Greg Starr, DVM, MS
Dr. Greg Starr has cared for pets at Cherokee Animal Clinic as a general practitioner since 1999.
A native of Missouri, Dr. Starr was raised on a farm and it was there he developed a deep love for animals and decided to become a veterinarian. He showed horses for more than 15 years (Arabian and Ponies-of-America) and he currently manages the the breeding and maintenance of a herd of 100 cow/calf pairs of Simmental cattle.
He attended Missouri State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, with a minor in Biology, in 1990. He went on to Clemson University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Genetics in 1993. He continued his education at the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.
Dr. Starr is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Pinzgauer Association, the American Simmental Association and the Fleckvieh Federation.
When he's not busy with his duties at the hospital, Dr. Starr can be found breeding and maintaining his purebred Simmental cattle herd and spending time with friends and family. Running, lifting weights, traveling and keeping up with college sports are also among his many hobbies. He shares his home with two Welsh Corgis, Rose Marie and Marci Jo, who help herd the cattle.
